![Showery North](/DATA/IMAGES/FRONTPAGE/METCHECK/Summer_SuninSand_35789_USER.jpg) Cooler, fresher air now in place across all parts of the country as we end the working week with low pressure to the north of Scotland. The outlook is on the whole looking cooler and more changeable, but there will still be some drier, brighter and warmer intervals especially towards the south of the country.
It's a showery start to the day across much of the north and west and there are some more persistent spells of rain affecting central and western regions of Scotland where it is also rather windy. The more persistent rain will tend to turn more showery as we go through today and so for much of Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, northern England and north Wales it will be a day of sunny spells and scattered showers, but the heavier and more frequent showers will tend to become confined to more northern regions by this afternoon. This leaves much of the rest of England and Wales with a largely dry and bright day, there will be sunny spells and just the low risk of an odd shower popping up. Temperatures will be back nearer to normal with maximums ranging from 15°C to 18°C in the north and 19°C to 22°C in the south but it will be rather breezy, especially in the north and west.
The showers become confined to northern Scotland tonight with many places seeing a dry night with winds easing and some clear spells forming. However, a shallow low pressure system to the west of Ireland will bring thickening cloud and some patchy rain to Ireland overnight and this drifts further eastwards tomorrow bringing some cloudy conditions with some showers to parts of Wales and western England tomorrow. It will be mainly dry elsewhere although showers will continue to affect the north and west of Scotland.
