Low pressure remains to the east of the UK today with cool north/north-westerly winds affecting many regions. However, with this low gradually pulling away to the east then the winds won't be quite as strong nor as gusty as yesterday and there will be fewer showers around.
It's a chilly start to the day in many regions and where skies have remained clear overnight temperatures have dropped low enough for a touch of frost but most places have remained above freezing thanks to the variable cloud amounts and the breeze. There are some showers around, mainly around windward coasts, but there are also some scattered showers moving south across parts of England and Wales.
As we move on through the day there won't be a huge amount of change with showers continuing to affect areas exposed to the north/northwest wind, these showers heaviest and most frequent across northern and western Scotland but also down eastern coasts of England with parts of East Anglia catching a number of showers thanks to the gusty northwest wind. Some heavy showers will also break out over parts of Ireland and Northern Ireland, but for many other regions it will be a drier and brighter day with just the odd shower passing through.
It will be another rather cool day, especially in the north and east where temperatures struggle to reach 8°C or 9°C, but values elsewhere will be nearer 10°C to 13°C and in sheltered parts of southern England they could be a degree or two warmer.
A band of cloud and showers is then expected to sink south across many regions tonight with clearer skies following into the northern half of the country which will allow for temperatures to drop low enough for some frost in places. Tomorrow sees early showers clearing the south but further scattered showers will break out, especially towards the north and east, whilst outbreaks of rain and drizzle move into much of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
