Low pressure remains slow-moving close to the southwest of the UK and Ireland today and will continue to be a feature of the weather over the coming days as it only slowly drifts a little further eastwards. Despite this, there will be plenty of dry and bright weather around for many regions with temperatures doing quite well.
This morning is dawning dull and damp across central and eastern regions of England with pulses of rain pushing up from the southeast but for many other regions it is a brighter start to the day once any mist and low cloud lifts. There are some showers around, mainly towards the southwest, and these will continue today whilst the rain in the east drifts a little further north and turns more showery in nature although some of these showers could be quite heavy.
Otherwise for many places there will be plenty of dry and bright weather around with some warm sunny spells developing and just the odd shower. In the brighter areas temperatures will respond with maximums widely in the high teens and as high as 20°C or 21°C, but it will be cooler around coasts where sea mist may linger and in the cloudier zones.
Many places then see a dry evening and night with clear spells but some mist, fog and low cloud will form in some regions. However, for much of northern and eastern England it will remain cloudier with further bursts of rain or drizzle feeding in from the southeast. Not a huge amount of change is expected tomorrow with many areas continuing to see plenty of dry and bright weather, but some heavy and locally thundery showers will develop in the south and southwest whilst northern England, southern Scotland and, later, Northern Ireland are cloudier and damper.
