Quite strange weather. The sun is beaming down from gaps in the clouds to the west while the sky to the east is getting blacker by the minute. Getting windier too. Still pleasant sat in the evening sun. In my jamas and hoodie I have to confess!!

19:00, 15.0 Dull in every sense but had no more rain since I posted eariler however looks like we could cop some from the new band coming in from the East over the Channel - STU will be able to let me know in advance. But best I take my coat. There's the odd heavier patch in it but doeswn't look like any storm activity at mom.

A thoroughly dismal day, spells of rain heavy at times, then drizzle. just topped 13*C this afternoon with 22 mm in the pot so far today. Even the sheep & lambs look fed up. On the the brighter side, as with the song by Meat Loaf 2 out of 3 days ain't bad for a lomg weekend! Might just spin that album up as its started to rain again!

Just to confirm what has been reported in the South East already. It's been a rainy day but has become more intermittent as the day has progressed during the afternoon. Lots of low grey cloud coming down from London, so a light Nor'Easterly breeze now. Barometer steady at 1008 mBar and about 2-3 miles visibility max. Almost 10mm in 'the pot', it looks to be more coming during the evening and it is currently quite mild at almost 14Β°c.
Try to enjoy whatever you're up to..!π

Good evening all, it's been a very mild day with some sunshine but cloudy in between. Just got back from work and the skies around us look threatening. There's some thunderstorms just north of us around the Sheffield area, I bet Heather has some, and they might spread further south. Enjoy your evening all.

Whoah! How clever is this? The Metcheck Thunderstorm Tracker Satellite allows you to see the developing storms across Western Europe and tells you whether they are growing or decaying. Every 15 minutes we take a snapshot of the cloud cover then measure the temperature and height of the clouds and show you whether the area of clouds are developing into thunderstorms and what direction they are moving in.

You probably hear a lot about the Jet Stream in the news. It's either too far North or too far South. The jet stream is identified as winds at 300mb (during Winter) and 200mb (during Summer). It is these winds which are responsible for driving and developing weather systems across the Atlantic.
